CALL FOR ABSTRACT PRESENTATIONS

The Energy Research Institutes Council of Australia (ERICA) 2025 Organising Committee invites the submission of
Abstract Presentations for the State of Energy Research Conference (SoERC) 2025.

Abstracts can be submitted for:

• oral presentation only

• poster presentation only

• oral presentation AND poster presentation

• workshop/panel submission (full one hour).

Submissions close: Friday 28 March 2025 at 11.59pm.

PREPARATION AND FORMATTING REQUIREMENTS

  • Submissions must be submitted in English.

  • Your abstracts must be print ready.

  • The Organising Committee accepts no responsibility for any errors published.

  • It is the responsibility of the submitting author to ensure that the submission has been approved by all authors.

  • Please note – a strong panel or workshop:

    • is presented by three or four people, one of whom is Chair at least two, but no more than three, discussants

    • clearly indicates how the panel / workshop relates to the conference theme and the selected theme area

    • includes a diverse range of participants, crossing lines of gender, race, affiliation and research methods and perspective.

SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS

When you are ready to submit your abstract/proposal, please go to the submission portal here and follow the guidelines to create an account and login.

  • Submit your personal details as the author (and add any co-author’s names and affiliations if relevant).

  • Enter your abstract or session title (maximum 75 words).

  • Choose one of the following options from the Presentation type drop-down list:

    • oral presentation only

    • poster presentation only

    • oral presentation AND poster presentation

    • workshop/panel submission (full one hour).

  • Select the theme of your abstract or session from the Theme dropdown menu (see list of themes above in this document).

  • Enter the body of your abstract (maximum 400 words. Tables and images are not permitted at this stage).

    • The body of your abstract should include the following information:

      • Whether you are proposing a workshop or a panel

      • Other presenters’ names, titles, and their role in the session

      • How the session relates to the conference theme and the selected theme area.

  • Submit your abstract.

ABSTRACT REVIEW AND SELECTION CRITERIA

All submitted abstracts will undergo a review process based on the following criteria:

  • Clarity and coherence – The abstract should clearly outline the research objectives, methodology, findings (or expected outcomes), and significance. Conclusions should be well-supported by results.

  • Relevance to conference themes – The research should align with the conference focus, addressing key challenges, innovations, or solutions in the field.

  • Quality and rigour – The study should demonstrate a sound research design, appropriate methodology, and reliable data or evidence.

  • Impact and novelty – The submission should present new insights, innovative approaches, or significant contributions to knowledge or practice.

Note: The organising committee is in discussions to offer the opportunity for accepted conference papers to be published in official conference proceedings. While details are being finalised, we encourage presenters to ensure their submissions meet the highest standards of clarity, rigour, and relevance in accordance with the selection criteria.

GENERAL POLICIES AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Abstract presentations must be submitted to the Conference Managers via the above linked portal by Friday 28 March 2025 at 11.59pm.

  • All fields on the online submission form must be completed.

  • It is the responsibility of the author to ensure the submission was completed correctly.

  • The Conference Managers will not be held responsible for submissions not received via the website or for submission errors caused by internet services outages or other unforeseen events.

  • All presenters must register for the conference and pay the appropriate registration fees. (Poster presenters must register for at least day one of the conference, when a poster discussants’ session will take place at the end of the day during networking drinks.)

  • Authors will be notified of the outcome of their submission from 5 May 2025.
